Dr Mark Poll is a Principal Consultant and Director at Natural Acumen. Mark has a PhD in visitor management in protected and natural areas and has worked in the areas of research, planning, policy and management for the Tasmanian Parks and Wildlife Service and Tourism Tasmania. His work in the area of strategic visitor and asset management has been internationally recognised by the IUCN and the World Heritage Committee.
A particular focus of Mark’s work has been research into visitor behaviour and the development of ways to manage visitors in natural and protected areas to minimise impacts and maximise the quality of visitor experience. Mark has developed and managed specialist surveys for a range of urban to remote scenarios to gather information about use, behaviour, attitudes, satisfaction, motivations and demographics.
Mark combines his 20 years of professional experience in market research and natural resource management with skills in project management to deliver valued outcomes.
Dr Anita Wild is a quantitative ecologist with over 20 years’ experience undertaking and managing large-scale and long term research program design, analysis and reporting and managing natural resource management projects. Anita has specialist experience in multivariate analysis techniques and is an advanced user and programmer of SPSS, ArcGIS (spatial analysis), PC Ord and Primer. Anita has developed numerous data analysis protocols and scripts in SPSS to enable repeated analyses of datasets and standardised outputs to ensure consistency and precision in long-term monitoring programs. Anita has extensive research experience including an 9 year monitoring project analysing long-term trends in ecological change that included analysis of time series data, setting ‘trigger values’ for limits of acceptable change.
